Gray Panthers invited as guest panelist at congressional briefing on Social Security

October 27, 2011

Earlier this year, the Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) Education Fund began a series of monthly Congressional Briefings on Capitol Hill to offer Members of Congress and their staffs, as well as the general public, the liberal perspective on key issues facing our country. This month's Congressional Briefing, held on 10/27/2011 in the US Capitol Visitor Center, examined Social Security. It included an overview of the system, where it stands, and what changes are now being discussed in Congress. Judy Lear, Gray Panthers National Board Chair and Acting Executive Director, was invited to speak as a guest panelist.

Other distinguished panelists included:

· Nancy J. Altman - Co-Director of Social Security Works

· Richard Fiesta - Director of Government and Political Affairs of the Alliance for Retired Americans

· Max Richtman - President and CEO of the National Committee for the Preservation of Social Security and Medicare
